Apple Pay PayPal Google Wallet

A new Changewave survey shows that when it comes to mobile payments, Apple Pay remains the player to beat. With each passing month, the number of Apple Pay users continues to increase. This of course shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given that the number of iPhone users also increases every month. Additionally, Apple has aggressively increased the number of banks and credit unions that work with Apple Pay, a figure which now stands at over 200.

Usage numbers aside, it's also worth noting that Apple Pay users are seemingly much happier with their mobile payment experience than users who opt for rival payment services like PayPal or Google Wallet.

pandora_newlogoWhen Apple's CarPlay feature launched last year, Apple partnered with several music services to offer a variety of listening choices on the platform, including Spotify, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Rdio, and more.

Noticeably absent from CarPlay was Pandora, but that appears to be set to change. Pandora CFO Mike Herring spoke to Fox Business Network yesterday and said Pandora will "definitely be in CarPlay" and integrated into the Apple Watch as well.

Though Herring did not provide a timeline for the possible launch of a Pandora CarPlay app, his statement to Fox is the closest Pandora's come to revealing its plans for the platform. Last year, Pandora told MacRumors that Apple was a valued partner and though it did not have a CarPlay offering at the current time, it was exploring opportunities to expand its presence in the car in the future.

Speaking to Fox, Herring also spilled some details on Pandora's relationship with Apple, which hints at why there may have been a delay getting Pandora on CarPlay. According to Herring, the two companies have a "frenemy kind of relationship," possibly due to the similarities between Pandora and Apple's iTunes Radio.

Pandora, which owes part of its success to the popularity of its iPhone app, has a "frenemy kind of relationship going on" with Apple, according to Herring. "We were part of what made it fun to have an iPhone," Herring added. While the two companies are "close partners," it is a "very interesting relationship."

At the current time, there are still only a handful of CarPlay apps available, like Spotify, Beats Music, CBS Radio News, Umano, MLB.com At Bat, Overcast, Stitcher, iHeartRadio, and Rdio. If Pandora comes to CarPlay, it'll be the fourth non-Apple owned music app available.

CarPlay is still largely limited to aftermarket in-dash systems from companies like Alpine and Pioneer, as many automobile manufacturers are still working on integrating CarPlay into their vehicles. Of Apple's CarPlay partners, Audi, Volkswagen, and Hyundai have promised CarPlay-compatible cars will be available for purchase in 2015.

The saga of Paul Ceglia is one of the record books. In 2010, Ceglia sued Facebook alleging that he was entitled to a 48% ownership stake in the popular social network, a stake which would have entitled him to billions of dollars.

Apple Watch 18k Gold Vs. Platinum

18-karat gold apparently isn't the only high-end material Apple is considering using for the Apple Watch. AppleInsider spotted a very interesting detail in The Wall Street Journal's big report on the Apple Watch published on Monday in which it revealed that Apple has been looking at making future versions of the Apple Watch with platinum cases.

Ahead of Apple's upcoming "Spring Forward" event that is expected to see the company unveiling more information about the Apple Watch, a new website has been launched that allows users to explore all of the different casing and band combinations for the device.

Using images taken from Apple's Apple Watch website, MixYourWatch lets users pair each of the six different Apple Watch casings (stainless steel, space gray stainless steel, aluminum, space gray aluminum, gold, and rose gold) with the 16 different bands made of fluoroelastomer, leather, and steel.

Rumors have suggested that Apple plans to allow users to purchase extra bands to wear with their Apple Watch devices, but the band options for the various models will be limited. For example, on Apple's website, the Leather Loop band is only listed as being available for the 42mm Apple Watch, while the Modern Buckle is only available for the 38mm Apple Watch.

Some of the combinations are not particularly attractive, like the space gray aluminum Apple Watch paired the green fluoroelastomer band, and the site gives an excellent overview of how different Apple Watch combinations will look before the device's launch.

Another site, launched yesterday, is also worth checking out. Watch Aware's Apple Watch apps site offers an interactive Apple Watch app experience, giving us a look at what apps will look like on the Apple Watch.
