Apple Watch Size ComparisonApple Watch Size on Wrist Comparison

With the Apple Watch poised to launch in April, excitement for the wrist-worn device has been building within the forums. In particular, a few users have posted discussion threads that compare the 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch based on photographer Ryan Mack's print-to-size diagrams. Both mockups are attached to a regular watchband to provide a realistic preview of how the Apple Watch could look on the wrist.

  2. "38mm vs 42mm On Wrist Comparison" posted by lupend88

The early consensus among users debating over which Apple Watch to get is largely split between the 38m and 42mm model, although many agree that they would be happy with either size. Given that the Apple Watch will be highly customizable with different sizes, editions and bands to choose from, visiting an Apple Store to test out the smartwatch on your wrist will likely be the best way to choose which one is right for you.
"If I had to pick right now, I think I'd get the 38mm," writes MacRumors forum member Technodynamic. "I just wonder if I'd rather the slightly larger screen for using the watch. Added pixels for the same image means you will see more detail on the 42mm versus the 38mm and I feel like I am missing on some clarity, but... I like the way the smaller one looks, from a jewelry perspective. First world problems."

If you are looking for an interesting weekend do-it-yourself project to take on, you can print and cut out your own Apple Watch diagrams [PDF] for size comparison. Make sure you print the diagrams at their 100% full size so that they are accurate. The width and depth of the Apple Watch diagrams are approximations based on press releases and images, while the height values have been confirmed by Apple for the two models.

Apple introduced the Apple Watch during its September 2014 media event alongside the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Pay. The smartwatch will be available in three collections for $349 and up: Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition. The wearable will be available in the United States first upon launch, with a wider international rollout likely to follow in the near future.

Apple Car Self Driving

It's amazing how quickly the Apple Car story has gone from insane rumor to established fact. Following both The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, Reuters has now come out with its own report that offers some key new details about Apple's top-secret Applemobile project.

Following up on yesterday's series of reports about a "top-secret research team" at Apple working on an electric car, Reuters now weighs in with its own source claiming the project involves a self-driving electric car.
Technology giant Apple is learning how to make a self-driving electric car and is talking to experts at carmakers and automotive suppliers, an automotive source familiar with the talks said on Saturday.

The Cupertino, California-based maker of phones, computers and watches is exploring how to make an entire vehicle, not just designing automotive software or individual components, the source said.

"They don't appear to want a lot of help from carmakers," the source, who declined to be named, said.

The source's of claim of self-driving capabilities for the vehicle directly contradicts yesterday's Wall Street Journal report, which specifically stated a self-driving car was not part of the effort. Reuters' source is from the automotive industry rather than at Apple directly, so it is unclear how complete the source's information is.

Apple would not be the only major technology company working on self-driving cars, as Google has been working on such a project for a number of years and has made significant progress in the area. Major car manufacturers are also working hard on technology that would make their cars at least somewhat autonomous.

Yesterday's report from The Wall Street Journal provided a fair bit of detail on Apple's efforts, noting that Tim Cook approved the project last year. Former Ford engineer and longtime Apple design vice president Steve Zadesky given permission to build a team of up to 1,000 employees largely from within the company to work on the project at a Silicon Valley location separate from Apple's main campus.

House of Cards Season 2

The Emmy award-winning House of Cards has returned to Netflix just in time for a Valentine's Day marathon. House of Cards premiered on Netflix last February to rave reviews and critical acclaim, kicking off a year full of original programming for the subscription streaming service. Starting at 3am ET on February 14th, the second season became available for streaming, 13 new episodes following the trials and tribulations of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood and his less-than-reputable associates. If you do plan on binge watching the entire season this weekend, keep in mind that House of Cards has just been renewed for a third season — that means 360 some-odd days until a more new episodes see the light of day.

Why Do Internet Trolls Exist

Does Dexter Morgan spend his time submitting flamebait posts on 4Chan when he's not murdering people? That's the implication of a new study flagged by The Washington Post showing that people who frequently go online with sole purpose of antagonizing others just for the sake of starting conflicts are much more likely to exhibit sadistic and even psychopathic behavior in their offline lives.

How To Avoid TV Spoilers

Everyone hates spoilers, but now that Netflix is releasing entire seasons of shows overnight, it's harder than ever to avoid them. Thankfully, Business Insider has drawn our attention to one mobile solution to the barrage of spoilers you can't escape online. Spoiler Shield syncs with your Facebook and Twitter feeds and then gives you the option to decide which spoilers you want filtered from view. The app already has a relatively comprehensive list of shows and sports teams, so you won't have to do any additional legwork. Posts that mention those shows or games will then be covered with a shield, but you can double tap a shielded tweet or Facebook post to reveal the message. The app is free for Android and iOS, so if you're preparing for a weekend full of House of Cards, it might be safest to give Spoiler Shield a try.

GOG.com Free Dungeon Keeper

Although Steam dominates the digital game download conversation, there are plenty of other services that offer deals and exclusives that Steam doesn't. GOG.com is one of those services, best known for its focus on classic PC games -- games that might have been forgotten if not for some deep discounts and updated compatibility. The latest promotion is more than just a good deal though; it looks suspiciously like a timely jab as well.

Halo 5 Release Date 2015

If you were looking forward to a new entry in the Halo franchise later this year, we've got some bad news for you. The voice of Master Chief, Steve Downes, told GameZone in a recent interview that Halo 5 likely won't see release until 2015. 343 Industries, the developer that has taken over the Halo franchise, made a point to let the fans know that the teaser trailer shown at E3 was not meant to represent a specific game or sequel, but rather a hint of what was to come. It appears that whatever is coming will have to wait until next year.

When Will Windows 7 PCs Stop Being Made

If you want a new PC but would prefer to get one with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8, then you'd better realize that your window is slowly closing. Paul Thurrott writes that Microsoft has officially set a deadline of October 31st, 2014 as the last day it will allow manufacturing partners to preload Windows 7 onto new machines. After that point, every new PC they make will need to have some variation of Windows 8. The good news for Windows 7 fans, however, is that they still might be able to get new Windows 7 PCs through their work even after the last new Windows 7 consumer PC has been sold because Microsoft has extended the deadline for OEMs to preinstall Windows 7 onto business PCs.

iPad Pro Concept Video

The latest rumors indicate that Apple is working on a giant version of its iPad that will be tailored more toward education markets and perhaps business markets as well. But just because this so-called 'iPad Pro' will be more like a PC than Apple's traditional tablets, that doesn't mean that Apple will pull an all-out Windows 8 by giving users the option to switch between an OS X-style desktop view and an iOS-style mobile view. In fact, Apple executives have said repeatedly that trying to merge OS X and iOS would be a "waste of energy."

Google Glass Alternatives

We still have no idea when Google Glass will become available to the general public but considering the $1,500 price tag for the current "Explorer" version, Google's connected eyewear will likely still be fairly pricey when the launch version debuts. Those looking to augment their reality but still have some money left over to live in said reality have a few upcoming options, and now Wired points us to yet another pair of connected glasses set to launch in the coming months.

Galaxy Note 4 Unlock

Samsung is apparently interested in further improving the security of mobile devices that come with stylus support, such as the future Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, as well as the speed of launching certain applications, a new patent application discovered by Phone Arena reveals. Entitled “Mobile Device, and method for releasing lock of the mobile device via handwriting recognition,” the patent describes methods of unlocking the screen of a mobile device by using a handwritten signature instead of a lock pattern or a PIN code.

HTC One Camera Test

Almost half a year after it launched in 2013, the HTC One was still the best Android phone in the world, pound for pound. In fact, some might say that even today there is no better Android option on the market, all things considered. It's a tricky claim when factoring in the value afforded by Google's Nexus 5, but even then, HTC's One design is leaps and bounds above anything offered by other big Android vendors. One of the biggest complaints surrounding an otherwise spectacular smartphone was the handset's camera, but is the One's shooter really as bad as many people claim? According to one photographer, that's not the case at all.

iPhone 6 Specs, Design, Size

A new iPhone 6 concept video presents a new branding vision for the upcoming iPhone line of handsets, a new design and hardware details that show us what Apple’s new iPhones could offer if the company actually wanted to keep up with competitors when it comes to smartphone specs. However, Apple has traditionally stayed away from competing with specs on paper, focusing instead on the overall experience its devices can offer. And of course, the strategy doesn't forgo performance — Apple's current flagship iPhone 5s slaughters rivals in performance tests.
