Nike has decided against making wearable hardware, CNET reports, as the popular sportswear company has fired the majority of FuelBand employees. Instead, Nike will focus on software in the future, with the rumored slimmer FuelBand having been canceled.
Sony on Thursday announced that it sold over 7 million PlayStation 4 units, significantly more than what it envisioned for its fiscal year 2013. Google on Wednesday updated the stock Android Camera app and made it available to other Android devices by releasing it to the Google Play Store. The application comes with a new interface and some interesting new features including a new Lens Blur mode, support for 50-megapixel Photo Sphere panoramic pictures, and a feature that should help users ditch their bad habits of recording video in portrait mode. However, the application will only work on Android devices running a KitKat version.
French company LaCie, maker of various storage solutions, on Tuesday announced that it has been the victim of a massive attack that exposed the personal data of buyers, including credit cards, to a third party. The company said it was informed by the FBI on March 19 that “an unauthorized person used malware to gain access to information from customer transactions that were made through LaCie’s website.” The company has hired an investigation firm, and has temporarily disabled its online store, while it secures it.
While Blizzard is far from releasing its any of its Warcraft games on mobile devices, the company has come up with a card game based on the characters of Warcraft, that’s currently available on iPad in selected markets, Mac and PC. Additionally, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft versions for iPhone, Windows tablet and Android will be available in the near future, according to the company.
Google seems ready to start its international Chromecast launch, according to Gigaom , with the U.K., France and Germany apparently being the first markets to get the popular dongle. A Currys employee tweeted a picture of a stack of Chromecast boxes last week, and a leaked screenshot from Dixons revealed the device should be launched on March 19 in the U.K.
