One of the consistent gripes from iPhone users is that their favorite device offers puny battery life compared to offerings from Samsung, LG and other big smartphone manufacturers. In an interview with The Financial Times , Apple design boss Jony Ive offers what seems like a really strange explanation for why Apple won't build a thicker phone with a bigger battery.

The NFL’s front office is a depraved, incompetent clown show
If there's one good thing to come from the New England Patriots' deflated footballs scandal, it's that it might just be enough to bring NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's disastrous reign to an end.

135 years of global warming in one terrifying animation
Is it warm in here, or is it just us? The debate surrounding climate change, and specifically global warming, will rage on for years to come. There are certainly plenty of arguments on both sides of the fence, and neither side wants to concede any of its key talking points. The simple truth, however, is that numbers don't lie... and these are some pretty horrifying numbers.

You HAVE to check this out: This tiny magnetic keyboard might be the coolest iPhone accessory we've ever seen
Typing on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is now a much better experience than it has been in the past, thanks largely to two main points. First, the screens on Apple's latest iPhones are larger, which means the tap targets on the keyboard are bigger and easier to hit while typing quickly. Also, the software keyboard itself is much better in iOS 8 than it has ever been before.
But the simple fact of the matter is that typing on glass with no tactile response will never be as good an experience as typing on a real physical keyboard, but size and portability will always be an issue. That's exactly why the new TextBlade keyboard from WayTools is so intriguing.

Manufacturing Mold for 'iPad Pro' Rear Shell or Dummy Unit Shown in New Photo
Few details can be discerned from the relatively poor quality photo, although it does appear to show faint details that could represent an Apple logo in the center and perhaps a rear camera feature in a corner. Exact size is also unknown, but it certainly appears larger than an iPad Air.
The relatively simple design of the mold suggests this may be an unofficial mold being used create dummy units for manufacturers. Such units frequently, but not always, turn out to be accurately based on information leaking out of Apple's supply chain.
Timing on a release for the iPad Pro has been in question for some time, with The Wall Street Journal reporting last October that Apple had pushed back production on the device in order to allow its suppliers to focus on the popular iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Reports have indicated the device could still launch in the April-June timeframe, but there have yet to be any apparently legitimate part leaks for the device.

CES 2015: 'Schlage Sense' Smart Lock Allows Siri Voice Commands to Unlock Doors
The company's first Bluetooth-enabled lock, the Schlage Sense allows users to simply enter a code to gain access to their house using the back-lit touchpad or a smartphone with a free-to-download app. HomeKit integration also brings added security and end-to-end encryption and authentication when the Schlage Sense lock interacts with a user's smartphone via the app.
The Schlage Sense system has the ability to manage and schedule up to 30 codes at the same time through a dedicated, easy-to-use app, which offers an additional layer of key-free convenience. The Schlage Sense app allows individuals to create and delete access codes, check on lock status and view activity, as well as update settings and check battery life without requiring residents to connect to an existing home automation system or pay a monthly subscription charge.
The company also promises that, thanks to Built-in-Alarm Technology that sends out alerts any time it senses potential door attacks, the new lock provides the highest rating of security certified by the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association.
Schlage Sense will become the latest in the brand's growing portfolio of keyless door locks, which also includes the Schlage Touch and Schlage Connect. The new lock will come in two styles - Camelot and Century - and a variety of finishes - Matte Black, Satin Nickel and Aged Bronze - that the company claims will match any home's aesthetic. Schlage Sense will be made available nationwide in select stores and online retailers "later in 2015."

Google Fiber’s latest FCC filing is Comcast’s nightmare come to life
What's every incumbent ISP's worst nightmare? If we had to guess, it looks something like the filing that Google just made with the Federal Communications Commission. As The Wall Street Journal reports, Google this week told the FCC that reclassifying broadband providers under Title II of the Telecommunications Act would have a big side benefit for Google Fiber because it would give Google Fiber the same access to utility poles and other key infrastructure currently enjoyed by Comcast, AT&T and other big-name ISPs.
