FXNOW iOS App Gains Support for 'Simpsons World', All 552 Episodes of The Simpsons Available [iOS Blog]

FXNOW, an on-demand video app that features hit movies from Fox networks FX, FXX, and FXM, was today updated to add support for Simpsons World, an FXX feature that allows users to watch all 552 episodes of popular television show The Simpsons.

FXNOW is an on-demand video service featuring Simpsons World, as well as the biggest and best lineup of critically acclaimed dramas, hit comedies and blockbusters movies from 3 networks, FX, FXX and FXM. With the addition of Simpsons World, FXNOW delivers a one-of-a-kind Simpsons experience with access to Every.Episode.Ever. and more, at your fingertips.

Accessing the FXNOW app and the Simpsons World content requires a cable subscription from one of the following TV providers: AT&T U-Verse, Bright House Networks, Comcast XFINITY, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, or WOW!.



Along with airing old episodes from the past 25 seasons, Simpsons World will allow users to watch new episodes of The Simpsons 24 hours after they first air on television.



There's also an FXNOW channel on the Apple TV, which is rumored to be gaining Simpsons World content as well, but thus far, Simpsons World content has not been added to the channel.

Apple Hires Longtime Technology Journalist Anand Lal Shimpi

After announcing his departure from AnandTech , veteran technology journalist Anand Lal Shimpi will join Apple in an undisclosed role, reports Re/code. A representative for Apple confirmed that Shimpi would be joining the company, but also declined to provide any further details.

Shimpi launched AnandTech in 1997 and established the website's reputation around in-depth analysis and reviews on a number of topics from the world of technology, including posts on Apple's line of desktops, notebooks, iPhones, iPads, iPods, and accessories.



In his farewell post on AnandTech published yesterday, Shimpi stated that he "won't stay idle forever" and added that there are "a bunch of challenges out there."

Shazam for iOS Gains Ability to Play Songs Directly in App via Rdio [iOS Blog]

Shazam today updated both its free and paid iOS apps to version 7.7.0, adding Rdio integration. When a Shazam user identifies a song with the app, the recognized song can then be played directly within the Shazam app via Rdio.



While it was previously possible to listen to songs identified within Shazam in the Rdio app, users are now able to listen to songs from Rdio without having to switch apps.

What's new



This release brings full track playback in Shazam, powered by Rdio. Once you’re connected, you can play any track and carry on listening to the music as you discover more in the app. Shazam a song to get started.

Songs identified within Shazam can be added to the playlist of a user's choice or an automatic playlist of all Shazamed songs within the Rdio app. Taking advantage of Rdio integration within Shazam requires the Rdio app to be installed and it also requires a Rdio account to be set up.



Shazam has been long known as one of the major song recognition apps and as of iOS 8, its song identifying capabilities are built directly into Apple's operating system.
