The Aluminum iPhone 6 Mold Being Used By Case Manufacturers

Recent weeks have seen a number of cases and physical mockups for Apple's rumored iPhone 6, and now we're getting a good look at the aluminum mold being used by case manufacturers as they prepare for the upcoming launch, courtesy of MobileDirect.ro.





Rather than a dummy model made to resemble the iPhone 6 directly, the mold is intended to represent the general shape of the device for the purposes of creating cases to fit the device and its physical features. As a result, the mold contains holes and depressions to allow it to be attached to machines for making the cases.





The iPhone 6 is expected to be available in two display sizes, both larger than the current 4-inch display on the last several generations. A 4.7-inch version has been rumored to be launching first around the September timeframe, with an even larger 5.5-inch model reportedly following several months later.

iTunes 11.2 Released With Podcast Improvements, Bug Fixes [Mac Blog]

Apple today released iTunes 11.2 with several improvements to Podcast browsing, giving users a way to find new episodes with an "Unplayed" tab and the ability to save favorite episodes to a computer. Episodes can also now be deleted after they're played, and episodes that are available to download or stream can be found in the "Feed" tab.



There's also a fix for an issue that caused iTunes to become unresponsive when updating Genius, and there are also improvements for overall performance and stability. Apple also recommends users download Podcasts for iOS 2.1 or later to sync podcast episodes.

This update includes the following improvements:



Improved Podcast Browsing

-Quickly find episodes you haven't listened to in the new Unplayed tab

-Browse episodes that are available to download or stream in the Feed tab

-Save your favorite episodes to keep them on your computer

-Episodes can now be automatically deleted after you play them



This update also resolves an issue where iTunes may become unresponsive when updating Genius and improves overall performance and stability. Podcasts for iOS 2.1 or later is recommended when syncing podcast episodes.

Apple escapes long-running Google patent lawsuit unscathed

Although patent feuds continue to dominate the tech news cycle as many stretch indefinitely forward, one battle has finally come to a close. In August 2012, Google-owned Motorola Mobility filed a complaint against Apple stating that the iPhone developer had violated several patents, including one covering signal noise reduction, another involving email notifications and one covering video players. After nearly a year of deliberation, the International Trade Commission ruled last April that Apple was innocent of any infringements. Reuters is now reporting that the U.S. Court of Appeals has upheld the decision, putting an end to the drawn out lawsuit once and for all.
