The rumors were true: Apple juts sent out invitations for its next media event which will take place on Thursday, October 16th at its Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California. Though it has been diluted by the Federal Communications Commission in its current form, the idea of "net neutrality" was initially put in place in order to ensure that Internet services delivered to American consumers are kept fair and neutral for consumers and for content owners. The current proposal being batted around is anything but neutral considering the fact that it allows content owners to pay Internet service providers for "fast lanes" that will deliver their content to users more quickly and smoothly, but that is an entirely different issue. Touch ID might have been better in concept than as a practical security measure, but as with any template for future designs, Apple's fingerprint scanner is just the beginning of the company's exploration of biometrics. According to a recent patent, Apple wants to enable a wider range of functionality using your fingers, your eyes and even your voice in the future. The patent suggests that the owner of a device could store any user's biometric data within the device and then restrict or allow access to certain features depending on the user's identification.
