After an almost decade-long absence, world-class speedskater Bridie Farrell is preparing for a comeback, and iPad is helping her in a big way. Farrell’s coaches are using iPad and the Dartfish Express app for in-depth video analysis of her performance. They evaluate her form, aerodynamics, and body language, and provide frame-by-frame feedback. iPad also simplifies the video recording process. “We’d have to lug around a laptop and camcorders, and so many wires and connections,” says trainer Robyn Mason. “With iPad, you don’t need to worry about any of that. It’s so much easier, so much more accessible.”

Google wants employees using Macs, not Windows or its own Chromebooks

In a presentation at the LISA ’13 conference earlier this month, Google explained that it’s managing a fleet of over 43,000 Macs its employees use, without much help from Apple. Despite developing its own desktop operating system and selling Chrome OS laptops together with various OEMs, Google’s computer system of choice is the OS X-running Mac. In fact, it looks like the company imposes Mac use to all employees even though Google also supports additional operating systems including Windows, Linux and Chrome OS, The Register reports.

Google reportedly has a huge change planned for next year’s Nexus 7

Now that Google's second-generation Nexus 7 tablet is here, pure Google fans' attention has collectively turned to the Nexus 5 smartphone. We have seen the new Nexus phone leak in photos and on video, and it looks pretty fantastic. Google has retained LG to handle the design of the Nexus 5 just as it did with the Nexus 4, just like vendor partner Asus designed and built the first two generation of the Nexus 7 tablet. According to a new rumor, however, Google may be changing things up next year.
