Nexus 5 gets torn apart ahead of launch in beautiful high-quality photo gallery

Google hasn't even launched its new Nexus 5 yet but the highly-anticipated handset has already been torn apart. Smartphone parts leaker Fanatic Fone awoke from its slumber on Thursday with a photo gallery showing Google's upcoming hero phone broken down and baring all. Since we already know just about everything there is to know about the Nexus 5, there's not much to be gleaned from these pictures unless you're interested in the device's inner workings. They're still yet another sign that we're finally approaching the device's launch, however, which is expected to take place sometime on Friday.

Will the man who almost ran Apple into the ground save BlackBerry?

Poor John Sculley. The man has done plenty before and after he was Apple's chief executive for a decade beginning in 1983, but he will always be known best for his role in ousting Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and nearly running Apple into the ground. Jobs came back to Apple in the mid-90s and helped the company return to glory as it grew to eventually become the most valuable consumer electronics company on the planet. But in a curious twist of fate, Sculley may soon have the opportunity to try to become BlackBerry's Steve Jobs.

BlackBerry’s BBM app rockets to No.1 on iPhone app chart

It took forever to launch — and some of the people who downloaded still can't even use it — but BlackBerry's BBM for Android and BBM for iPhone apps are finally here. What's more, the new app is shockingly popular. BlackBerry fiiiiinally released its highly anticipated BBM cross-platform messaging app for Android and the iPhone on Monday and in less than 8 hours, the company announced on Twitter that the app had been activated for more than 5 million users. When BlackBerry first released the new app, it implemented a queue system that allowed users to download and install BBM, but they still couldn't use it. Instead, they would have to wait in a queue for BlackBerry to enable their accounts.

Bad news about Samsung's Galaxy S5... Very, very bad news.

We recently reviewed Samsung's new Galaxy Note 3 phablet and long story short, we loved it. The device marks the beginning of Samsung's war on feature spam, and we went as far as to call it our favorite Samsung phone ever. The Note 3 is by no means perfect, of course, and aside from its monstrous size our least favorite thing about the handset was probably its cheap-feeling build. Whereas rivals like Apple and HTC use metals and other premium materials on its smartphones, Samsung continues to opt for plastics and, in the case of the Note 3, pleather. Rumor had it that the company would finally move away from flimsy-feeling plastics on next year's flagship Galaxy S5 model, but now a new report suggests that will not be the case.

Absolutely, completely, totally, utterly useless -- meet Samsung's new Galaxy Round smartphone

The Galaxy Gear smartwatch is the worst product Samsung has made in a long time. The device was rushed to market in an attempt to beat Apple's non-existent iWatch to consumers wrists — and it shows. It doesn't innovate or even attempt to bring anything new and useful to the table, and what little functionality it does offer in anything but exciting. So it's easy to draw parallels between Samsung's first smartwatch effort and the new Galaxy Round, Samsung's first smartphone to feature a curved Super AMOLED display. Why does it feature a curved Super AMOLED display? Because it does.

Video: iPhone speed test shows iPhone 5s isn’t always fastest

The iPhone has gone through seven iterations since its launch in 2007, some more drastic than others. There have been software updates, hardware redesigns, a screen expansion, and countless other changes that have altered everything about Apple's smartphone. During the iPhone 5s and 5c event in September, as with every iPhone unveiling, Apple talked a big game in regards to the numbers. In fact, the iPhone 5s CPU is supposedly 40x faster than the first-generation iPhone — but how do vague numbers like this actually affect the speed of the phone?
