While Samsung has done extremely well making Android phones, the company doesn't want its destiny tied to another company's platform. That's why it's been plugging a lot of resources into Tizen, its homemade operating system that it hopes to establish as the fourth major mobile platform after iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
